Last December, surrounded by family and friends, I “officially” launched Peanut Butter and Glitter! This blog, which I have worked on for the better part of the year last year, was finally really up and running and ready to go! What a blessing. I was so happy I wanted to bring together those that helped me and those that inspired me and treat them all to a little pampering. So that is exactly what I did at a relaxing, sweet and sparkly spa party afternoon!
This blog has been something I have been wanting to put together for so long. Early last 2014 I said to myself, I want to get serious this year and get my passion project (then only an idea) fully off the ground. I’d tried my hand at blogging before, but in the past I went in without a real concrete plan, no real idea of my goals and what I wanted to achieve, and no real outline for the steps I would take. I went in more on a whim and I’ve since realized that blogging (much like magazine work actually) is about so much more than a catchy title and a cool design.
So I concluded that I would definitely benefit from professional help! That’s when I contacted the amazing Martine de Luna of Make It Blissful. I love her aesthetic (her blog design and Instagram feed are gorgeous) and, even more than that, she inspired me with her creative content and unique approach to blogging and bliss. I really liked that. Plus I also know that she has done some amazing work with other bloggers (check out her page! It’s awesome!).
Martine and her team (an amazing group of girls!) helped me put together my ideas and come up with the look, direction, and plan for Peanut Butter and Glitter. It was a lot of work and it took me a big chunk of the year to really “settle in” and get things moving, but it was also so much fun. Finally, by the end of the year I was ready to “officially” launch it!
I wanted to herald in the beginning of Peanut Butter and Glitter (or PB&G as I fondly call it for short), by introducing it to my friends and bringing together all of the amazing women who supported me and inspired me in its creation. I wanted to treat them to a fun afternoon of crafts and pampering so I thought a spa-party would be the perfect choice!
It was truly serendipity how it all worked out and how many friends were involved in making it possible. My good friends Regina Calpo, my collaborator for the launch, of Loomy Mommy and Me agreed to offer a fun looming craft for the afternoon. My amazing baker friends Sasha Temones, my other collaborator, of 4 and 20 Blackbirds and Joanna Romero of Cuppy Puppy Bakehouse baked an array of delectable sweets for everyone to enjoy. My mom (who is incredible and ever supportive), of Q’s Kitchen, put together delicious homemade gourmet sandwiches and pasta. And my awesome friends Cathy Dizon and Isabel de Dios of Belle & Cat Nail and Wax Studio and Sparrow Fragrances provided the great venue and some sweet smelling giveaways.
So, here it is! A wonderful afternoon with some wonderful women! Forgive all the photos, they were so amazing I had a hard time cutting down (thank you to Luxe Photography and Wilvin Ang for the great shots!). Hope you enjoy this peek into a very special day for me and please do stay tuned, I promise the best of PB&G is yet to come!
I had so much fun putting together tokens for the lovely ladies who came. They were given bags with PB&G DIY cupcake kits, copies of Working Mom Magazine, sweet pink candies from Made in Candy, some arts and crafts, nail polish in PB&G blog palette colors of pink, lime, and purple, a rose cactus, a pie pop from 4 and 20 Blackbirds, and a fragrant package from Sparrow.
Thank you girls for your amazing support (including those who arrived after this photo was taken)! You guys are the best! Not to mention superbly crafty and talented! (L-R Monique Katigbak, Sheryl Evangelista Baculinao, Regina Calpo, Martine de Luna, my gorgeous cousins-in-law Barni and Rachel Alejandro of The Sexy Chef, Peach de Mauro, Sasha Temones, Dom Olbes, Cathy Dizon, and Isabel de Dios)
Cathy telling us a little more about Sparrow. She is also the amazingly talented mommy behind the crochet amigurumi magic that is Crow’s Nest.
